End of the Quarter - almost · 2002 days ago
As the quarter comes to a close I’m starting to feel the burn as I somehow try and balance everything that must be done.
I’ve devolped primal multi-tasking out of need this quarter and thankfully it’s allowing me to meet most of my deadlines. Sure is tiring though.
Senior Project and Advanced Rigging are still my golden classes, and I doubt that will change for sometime… I mean after all all I do in both is the stuff I like. Our short, and Min’s are both coming along smoothly aswell as the character rig that will hopefully replace Generi across the planet… muhaha!!
Production continues to just drag along, unwilling to roll over and die – albiet the new reel breathed some life back into it for myself, just not enough to overcome all the other priorities I currently have.
Ethics has been a blast all quarter, even if I’m dead tired after a mon/tuesday split. It’s been rather enjoyable to have Laura/Kayleen/Ben in class with me aswell as old buddies Kz and Robert. The final paper really got the best of me unfortunatly.
Adv 2D has been slowly growing on me all quarter as it’s just starting to sink in and stay. I definatly have a stronger appreciation for the art of animation/aswell as a better understanding of how I can make it easier for animators thanks to billy. Might even post some of it, scary huh
Okay, that’s all (well most of it) check back in a bit.. I’ma pass out
GDC 2005, a review · 2002 days ago
So it’s been a few days since GDC wrapped up and now that I’ve got a moment to reflect I am.
First of all, I’ve got to thank Youda He and Min over at GSI for the invite/chance to demo their software GSI Studio. Let me say – impressive stuff going on over there. I’m going to be considering it for some time.
The conference itself was rather nice, spent most of the conference over at GSI’s booth demoing (read: learning) the software and asking questions of Youda along the process. I’m almost aware of every function in the application, including all the ones commented out =D. But thankfully they (GSI) wanted us to have as much fun as possible, so we often took off to walk the floor in awe.
I myself spent a fair amount of time over at nintendo bar, playing some DS while sipping on the smoothie of my choice – can you say bonus points? Which is why I must admit they had the most intertaining booth at the show. Runners up included- Nvidia, Alias, and Oddworld Studios. There was alot of new technology on display with a strong focus on making my life easier which is good to hear! Also in focus was the new portable systems and more interactive methods of control.
I attended Alias’ afterparty thursday against my better judgement, but really – free games /drinks / grub at the arcade? So me and Travis played some games, had some grub and a drink and then I got it handed to me in virtual bowling.. Once I stopped trying to bowl I did pretty well, but Travis figured it out much faster than me.
Overall, rather exciting and yet somehow very very tiring.
My first of what looks to become an annual tradition for myself.
