Geek Dinner · 2077 days ago
Well well well… my first GEEK Dinner, and surely not my last.
It was held at the Chaat cafe as we basically took over the entire resturant in our numbers. Poor owners were suprised – I don’t think they were expecting us. Perhaps will call in advance next time. The food however was good, I will be back on my own. The conversation was good aswell.
Some shop talk, work/bittorrent/computer stuff and then we broke up into smaller groups as the topics spread out even more. I found myself talking to a few people about the recent Tsunami and it’s devestating effects – it’s additional effects to come and how it might effect us. I also had a nice chat with someone about recycling computers – which we agreed is going to become a public problem sooner rather than later and then about the all intrustive cellphone before we had to leave.
All it all, there were alot more people than me or jeff thought would show up and it was rather nice to see such a strong showing. Perhaps we will join them for the next as it seems to be a recurring event.
and maybe we’ll stay up late enough to go to a GEEK breakfast, though I highly doubt that. Then again with my current sleeping pattern I might have eat my words.

Week 6 already? · 2121 days ago
I can’t believe we are so far into the quarter. Worst part is I haven’t produced anything really in any of my classes. It’s like the past six weeks never occured. I have for the quarter a lowpoly cityblock, 1 good render from lighting, a textured muni station and NO portfolio pieces.
Bummer…
God Damm that Patriot Act.. · 2122 days ago
You know I never did read that piece of legislation yet, but after reading this I think that was a very large mistake
“The recipients of the NSLs are in fact prohibited from ever disclosing that the FBI has demanded information from them, and they cannot even inform their lawyers of such requests.(Robin Good)
That my friends is fucked up. You should be able to inform your lawyers or seek consel for things like that, after all we are not all law majors and we consel to consult matters like this with. Talk about stacking the tables against the average american. There is no way average joe without consel could stand up in court against real lawyers – it’s just not a fair fight.
Perhaps it’s time for americans to read this legislation and decide if we want it at all?

Shesh, finally got a moment of peace (well sorta, just waiting on something to finish exporting) but while I’ve got a moment.
School
First things first, Mary lied. Hard Surface modeling has been a complete and utter waste of my time. We DON’T have lessons, and we aren’t learning new techniques but rather chessy quick and dirty cheats that a blok with common sense could arrive at. That said it’s friday morning and none of us want to be there more than the teacher himself as while I like Danny R alot, his attendence leaves an enormous amount before I would consider it polite, screw professional. So what, your teachers late? Right, well I wouldn’t mind it so much if he wasn’t giving us 15+hrs a week of homework. Take our last assignment, Model and outdoor enviroment in litterally as much detail as possible – portfolio quality, oh btw it’s due in 7 days. Turned out to be 14 days since he failed to show for class. Or our current assignment model a vechile in 7 days, which might be fine for some animation short but to model a vechile to portfolio quality is what I consider atleast 50-80hrs of modelling time. Looking forward to the next assignment a human character in a week… mmm tasty.
Now that’s out of my system, well just for a bit PrePro is going rather well. We got over our differences and finally settled on a single story. Looks to be a rather interesting experience.
Personal Life
I hate Heather, she got my car (Mini Cooper S 2003). She was more than considerate to email me the day of just to rub it in, needless to say I think me and her are going to have to go for a drive sometime soon, perhaps to tahoe? I’ve started running again, although I must admit that my new path is far less captivating as it consisit mainly of dense Sunset suburbia rather than the shoreline. For the time being it’s been Santiago to the waterfront, north to judah, up to 19th and home. I can almost run the entire thing, blasted uphill trek on judah does me in every time. Feels good.
Well it’s done – back to work.
PS Jeff’s projector is damm cool.
